RICK BARRY
Rick Barry is A 22 year
old songwriter from NJ whom the Star Ledger has already called
A "Living Local Legend", and The Aquarian weekly
has called "No Mere Sensation." Rick is Above all
else a story teller, with melodic hooks and clever lyrics,
he pulls you in to epic tales of existential delemma and
does not let you go. Rick has played with many touring acts
From all over the world, for example: Glen Tilbrook (of Squeeze),
Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Nine Days, Nada Surf, Josh
Ritter, and Amphibain (feat. members of Phish) to name a
few. "Small town politics" His debut record was
released in August 2005. Rick recently won his second Asbury
Music Award for "Best Male solo" after returning
home from a west coast tour. In March 2006 Rick's song "Courage
for A Rainy Day" was awarded the Grand Prize in the
John Lennon International Songwriting Competition aswell
as "Graphic Narrative" placing 2nd making him the
first singer/songwriter in the competitions history to compete
against himself in the final round. In July, 2005 Gary Wien
of Upstage Magazine dubbed Rick Barry "The Next Billy
Bragg" and wrote "he's constantly changing, constantly
evolving, and usually full of surprises. He's one of a kind......thank
