Jared Williams, an aspiring director, creates a fraudelent lifestyle in order to gain acceptance into a film mentorship program and receive the funding needed for his independent feature film. When Jared's best friend, Kevin Leonard, finds him the "good script", money is now the one thing standing in the way of Jared and his film. Since acceptance into the mentor program is based on experience and education, Jared and Kevin deem it necessary to "fudge their resume" in order to ensure entrance into the program. One lie turns into ten lies as Jared finds himself needing to keep up with all his counterfactual details. In addition to the cover up, Jared begins falling for his lead actress Jessica.
